We look back on a successful seventh edition of New Music Conference, which focused on inspiration, fair practices, and visions for the future.
We congratulate all the winners on their awards.
Buma Classical Award 2025: Arjan Linker
Arjan Linker (25) received the Buma Classical Award 2025 from Esther Gottschalk, chair of the Dutch society of composers, Nieuw Geneco. Linker, also a trombonist and specialized in North Indian classical music, received the Award for his striking presence with both his own compositions and arrangements in the cultural circuit over the past two years.
Buma Classical Lifetime Achievement Award: Klaas de Vries and Peter-Jan Wagemans
The Buma Classical Lifetime Achievement Award was presented in duplicate to Klaas de Vries and Peter-Jan Wagemans, who, as founders of the Rotterdam School, left an indelible mark on contemporary composed music. De Vries and Wagemans received the award from Gabriël Oostvogel, former director of De Doelen in Rotterdam.
Buma New Music Incentive 2025: Joram van Duin
The €250.00 Buma New Music Incentive – the incentive prize for young talent – went to Joram van Duin, a composition student at the ArtEZ Conservatory, who impressed with an original and compelling presentation of his work during the New Composers Pitch.
